FLIGHT Plan

It happens fast and furious. John’s air show routine is packed with excitement and planned explosive maneuvers. At the air show, it can be a challenge to follow along and grasp the nature of each element of John’s flight. So follow along as John puts his Panzl S330 through the paces in 10 minutes of world class power aerobatics.

Air Show Performance

  1. Seven snap rolls on a forty-five down line with multiple linked rolls in the opposite direction.
  2. Four point vertical roll followed by a huge torque roll with multiple rolls on a vertical down line.
  3. Pull to vertical multiple rolls followed by a knife edge spin.
  4. A complete outside loop with a full roll on top of the loop. FYI - if the roll is a snap, this figure is commonly referred to as “The Outside Avalanche”.
  5. Outside half-loop up with a tumble on the top.
  6. Double snap roll on a forty-five degree down line.
  7. Sharks tooth with multiple rolls on the forty-five up line.
  8. Inside outside loop with a 1 ½ snap roll on top.
  9. Inverted 90 degree turn followed by a push to a forty-five with an outside snap and ½ to upright.

John takes a minute to gain altitude as he acknowledges his sponsors, thanks the crowd, checks his engine instruments and tightens his safety harness before starting the second half of his performance.

  1. John will re-enter the show with multiple rolls on a forty-five down line and get down on the deck for his next figure.
  2. Reaching nearly 250 miles an hour, John will pull to vertical and complete 8 ¼ point rolls on a vertical up line and turn it into a humpty bump maneuver at the top. On the down line, John will complete five vertical down snap rolls.
  3. He will then perform a tight square loop.
  4. John will show the precision of ten years of competition with a very precise four point hesitation roll.
  5. Followed by a pull to vertical and then a fully developed tumble roll, stop it, and then turn it into a show stopping tail slide.
  6. John will then show you the Staudacher’s roll rate of more than 420 degrees per second with five consecutive rolls on a level line at show center.
  7. You will then see a double roll to the left followed by multiple snap rolls to the right that will make your head spin.
  8. At show center, John will demonstrate how the Staudacher airplane really tumbles on a forty-five up line.
  9. Finally, John will perform a signature wing wag from knife edge flight waving to all in the audience.

John is eager to meet everyone and sign autographs after his performance.
