The Extra is powered by a 300 horsepower variant of the Lycoming 540 six cylinder engine.

It weighs 1470 pounds empty and is certified to a load factor of +/- 10 Gs.

Why a second aircraft? Quite simply, the Extra 300L has a second seat. The Extra 300L is only one of a few fully FAA Certified two-seat aerobatic aircraft models in the world. Not only is the Extra 300L used for aerobatic flight training, but it has also competed in World Unlimited Aerobatic Competition.

John uses this aircraft to give press rides, recruiter rides and rides to special guests. Capable of almost any aerobatic maneuver in the book, passengers are treated to a souvenir video recording of them in the cockpit during the flight.
